Introduction

This blog is going to be a place where I write a lot about basketball. As a Cavaliers fan, a lot of my content is going to be centered around the Cavs. I intend to write very brief recaps after most Cavs games, followed by my more extensive notes on the team, what comments I have, and what adjustments I would make. I very much enjoy the roster construction aspect of basketball, so that will sometimes be included as what I would like to see done and what I would do if I were in charge.

Some of my basketball beliefs are that offense is best run through a primary ball handler that is elite in both on-ball scoring and passing, surrounded by shooters. It is the best way to create advantages, and then convert those advantages into points. I also believe that efficiency is a very important factor to determining how good a scorer someone is. I lean more towards analytics than the eye test for evaluating players, but it is crucial to blend the eye test with analytics to best evaluate players. I am not a big fan of extremely advanced analytics, a general rule of thumb is that if I don't know how a stat is calculated, then I don't use it for evaluation because I don't know what the stat is telling me and what the proper context for using that stat would be.
